Drugs are a problem that affects the entire society regardless of people's age, culture, religion or social stratum. In the field of education, it has been identified that this problem leads to low academic performance of students. From there arises the interest in the execution of the present study called "Drug use and its incidence in the academic performance of high school students" in order to determine the incidence of the use of legal drugs in the academic performance of second-year students. And third upper level of the Salcedo Educational Unit. Then, a quantitative, correlational, field and cross-sectional methodology was chosen. The population of this study was 403 second and third year high school students, whose sample calculation was performed using the Sierra Bravo formula, with a margin of error of 3%, obtaining a sample of 384 participants. For the collection of information, an instrument carried out by the Ministry of Health of the Government of Spain in conjunction with the Delegation for the National Plan 2020-2021 was applied. The collection of information was carried out in the computer room s of the Educational Unit through Google forms. At the end, it is concluded that the impact of drugs on the academic performance of the students has not been important since the consumption is not so high and, therefore, the majority of the students did not present abandonment of their usual activities due to the use of drugs.
