The objective of this experimental work is to determine the daily consumption curve of the potable water network of the Huachi Grande sector of the City of Ambato, Tunguarahua province, and to provide support for future projects based on the design or redesign of the potable water distribution networks of the sector under study. The present project is based on the measurement of the volume of drinking water consumed for a determined time. All the information collected was used to determine curves of daily consumption, demand per person and consumption patterns; at the same time, the study area was georeferenced in the Geographic Information System software (GIS). For the recognition of the area and the population of the sector under study, information was requested from the Autonomous Decentralized Government of Canton Ambato, then the selection of properties in the sector was carried out, to perform the readings of daily volumes consumed of potable water for the period of sixty days and be able to order and analyze the data obtained; in the same way, potable water pressure was measured in each of the properties for seven consecutive days and, followed by the execution of surveys directed at the users of the selected properties. Finally, the statistical analysis and processing of all the information was done for its tabulation and representation by means of graphs, seeking compliance with the proposed objectives concerning the determination of different factors such as: demand per person with 141.32 L/hab/day, typical week where the highest day of consumption is Monday 987.63 L/ hab/day, patterns and curves of daily consumption and also the georeferencing of the research sector.
