    Currently, there is a growing need for efficient management and administration of information flows in various organizations, which can be achieved through the use of technologies and the implementation of a document management system (DMS). These systems not only enhance documentation related processes, but also provide timely and reliable access to information for relevant users. The introduction of a DMS in educational institutions, particularly in the public sector, is essential for effective control, planning, direction, and organization of information. The lack of integrated automated systems in these institutions hinders the s earch for information at both administrative and academic levels, resulting in delays and inefficiencies in processes. By embracing technological advancements and implementing a DMS, the Bolívar Educational Unit can improve its management processes, decisi on making, and overall infrastructure. This research focuses on analyzing the current information flow processes in the administrative area of the Student Counseling Department (DECE) and the Secretariat. Additionally, the integration of Alfresco Community is proposed as a solution to streamlin e the search, retrieval, and management of document management, enabling efficient and effective administration in the information flow of each department
