    The financial system is the fundamental axis in the equilibrium of the economy of a country, any affectation to it seriously compromises the system, the global economy of the state and therefore to the income of the families, that is why the credit risk is of fundamental consideration and in the last years has had a more important role in the regulation of the state to the financial system and the control of financial institutions to the granting of loans to its clients, a clear international example is that of the crisis financial crisis of 2008, which originated through the excessive sale of mortgage bonds and credit default, affecting banks and especially families, Ecuador in the last 2 years has faced several factors that affected to the national economy, which produced the fall in four consecutive quarters of the GDP arriving at establishing a stage of recession cu a means a contraction in the economy, less liquidity less credits and therefore greater risk, so the focus of the research focuses on the control of credit risk and its effect on the liquidity of financial institutions specifically those of Economics Popular and Solidarity.
