Item Efectividad del ejercicio físico para prevenir el deterioro cognitivo en adultos mayores(Universdidad Técnica de Ambato/Facultad de Ciencias de la Salud/Centro de posgrados, 2021-07-01) Rivera Quinatoa, Jessica Alexandra Lcda. Ft.; Robalino Morales, Gabriela EstefaníaLcda. Ft. Mg.Introduction: The Cognitive deterioration affects to elderly people in a transcendental way. That’s why, it is essential to search treatment's strategies in order to prevent this pathology's kind with the help of the physical activity it is evident that all these affectations can be controlled or can be maintained to improve mental functions such as orientation, attention, language among others. Objective: The objective of the study is to establish the effectiveness that physical exercise has in relation to cognitive impairment. Method: The application of an adapted exercise routine for the elderly people it was carried out, which consisted of 12 sessions from 45 minutes which included stretching, warm-ups, exercises, a cooling phase and finally stretching, the assessment the patient's cognitive state was carried out with the Mini-mental test and the Pfeiffer test before and after the intervention with the participation from 20 people. Results: After the final assessment, the effectiveness of physical exercise to prevent cognitive deterioration in the older adult population was evidenced, with the improvement of cognitive functions and lifestyle. Conclusions: Through research, the effectiveness of regular physical exercise in relation to the cognitive functions of the elderly people is verified in order to improve their physical and cognitive state through the activation from new neural connections within the brain.
