    The present research project thinks about how to find the relation in the study of the Otavalo culture and the iconography taken shape of the chumbis you (wrap), that there is part of the clothing of the women, to move them in design of feminine jackets in the city of Ambato. To achieve the investigation there is contemplated the fulfillment of targets that are directed to delimit and to explain the culture based on the iconography to design appropriately and with intention of an innovative approach in the clothing design for such a reason I am realized. By means of the population and sample one looks to find qualitative and quantitative information that allows to obtain results of as the designs of the Otavalo culture can be adapted to incorporate them inside the clothing on the other hand in case of the interviews they were directed to the perspective that the craftsmen have with regard to the textile industry, the tradition and the opening to new designs that show extensively the iconography of the chumbis. This is an investigation it expires with parameters of originality that is involved in designs of the researcher based on the study of the iconography of the chumbis along with the craftsmen's consultancy otavaleños dedicated to the art of the textile and to the professional guide given by the Technical University of Ambato.
