Item El sueño Estadounidense a través del cine: caso de estudio “Rocky I(Universidad Técnica de Ambato, Facultad de Jurisprudencia y Ciencias Sociales, Carrera de Comunicación, 2025-02-24) Panchi Borja, Jordy Aldayr; Vayas Ruiz, Eliza CarolinaThis article is an exploration of the American dream through film, focusing on the case study of “Rocky I”, the study reveals how the film directed by John Advilsen in 1976 embodies social ideals and contradictions about this term of American culture. Through the analysis of this cinematic narrative, it can be observed that film serves as a mirror for social struggles and is a reflection on how the American dream can actually be achieved. The article includes results obtained through the analysis of interpretation that support and seek to contribute to the understanding that cinema can serve as a means of criticism of capitalist structures, revealing the adversities that one has to go through in order to fulfill the longed-for American dream. The methodology for this research was a content analysis of 23 scenes, where it was possible to analyze variables such as: opportunity, overcoming, resilience, hope and boxing ring, all related to the concept of the American dream. All these data observed through the analysis of the film show that the film production is a clear narrative of the American dream.
