    Diseño de un sistema de residencias gerontológicas modulares en la parroquia de Santa Rosa

    This integrative project aims to design a modular gerontological residential system in the parish of Santa Rosa, Ambato canton, focused on providing care and accommodation for older adults living in conditions of poverty, abandonment, and social vulnerability. The research responds to the growing challenges generated by population aging and the lack of specialized infrastructure capable of ensuring adequate living conditions, health care, safety, and social inclusion for this priority population group. The study identifies significant social and housing deficiencies affecting older adults in Santa Rosa, including poverty, inadequate housing conditions, limited family support networks, and restricted access to specialized services. Furthermore, the existing facilities intended for elderly care do not meet the technical standards required for comprehensive gerontological assistance, resulting in barriers related to accessibility, comfort, health care, social interaction, and residential support. The methodological approach combined documentary research, regulatory analysis, interviews with professionals involved in elderly care, architectural case studies, and territorial assessment of the selected site. These methods enabled the establishment of design guidelines based on the physical, emotional, and social needs of older adults, while considering the environmental and urban characteristics of the context. The proposed architectural solution is based on principles of modular architecture, universal accessibility, environmental comfort, flexibility, and integration with nature. The project includes residential, administrative, complementary care, and service modules organized through a functional system that promotes autonomy, social interaction, and active aging. Green areas, therapeutic spaces, and community environments are incorporated to enhance physical health, emotional well-being, and social participation.
