This study identified the number of women involved in adventure tourism and, in turn, identified the main factors limiting women's participation in the different types of adventure tourism. A mixedmethod approach was applied to the research, determining the number of women working in adventure tourism. This information was collected through closed-ended surveys conducted with 90 tour operators registered in the 2025 tourism registry. Interviews were also conducted with 12 women working in adventure tourism in the city of Baños de Agua Santa. The results of the research reveal that women represent 51% of the labor force among tour operators in the city of Baños de Agua Santa. However, in the city of Baños de Agua Santa, only 8% of them work in adventure tourism. The main barriers that could be felt in the canton are gender stereotypes, lack of academic training, fear of heights, workplace harassment and lack of support for childcare. In this sense, it is identified that among the strategies to eradicate this phenomenon, a female empowerment program should begin, which aims to strengthen the technical skills of women in the tourism sector of Baños de Agua Santa so that they can actively participate in the different types of adventure tourism.
