(Universidad Técnica de Ambato/ Facultad de Ciencias de Salud /Carrera de Psicología Clínica, 2024-09-06) Moreno Gallo, Jeremeis Stive; García Ramos, Diana Carolina
Body image is the set of perceptions, thoughts, emotions and behaviors that a person has in relation to his or her own body, while alcohol consumption is a public proble m worldwide, being a substance of greater consumption in adolescence. The objective of this study is to determine the relationship between body image and alcohol consumpt i o n in adolescents. The sample used was 120 students between 13 and 18 years of age from an educational unit. The research had a non-experimental quantitative approach with a cross-sectional and correlational scope. The Body Image Questionnaire (BSQ) created by Cooper, Taylor and Fairburn in 1996 and the Alcohol Use Disorders Identification Test (AUDIT) created by the World Health Organization in 1992 were used to measure the variables. The results showed that there is no significant relationship between these two variables (Rho= 0.145 p>0.05), as for sex there is no statistically significant differe n c e between men (M=1.85) and women (M=2.96) with a (U=985, p>0.05).
