    PLAN DE ENTRENAMIENTO DE FUERZA MUSCULAR CON HIDROTERAPIA EN ADULTOS MAYORES PARA MEJORAR EL EQUILIBRIO

    The present study investigated the effect of the implementation of a MUSCLE STRENGTH TRAINING PLAN WITH HYDROTHERAPY IN OLDER ADULTS on strength and balance indicators in older people through the practice of simple aquatic exercises. Methods: 20 volunteers in a single longitudinal group because 2 evaluations were performed, the group was subjected to the same battery of tests at the beginning and after 5 weeks of the aquatic program. Time Up and Go (TUG) to assess balance and Five Repetition Sit and Stand Test (5R-STS) to assess strength, the statistical test used was t-Student. Results: Significant correlation was found between Time Up and Go and (5R-STS) in the age groups of (65-71 years, 71-77 years and 83- 89 years) (p<0.05) indicating significant statistical improvement in addition to clinical improvement, in the age group of 77-83 years there was no statistical improvement however there was minimal clinical improvement. Conclusion: MUSCLE STRENGTH TRAINING PLAN WITH HYDROTHERAPY IN OLDER ADULTS is effective in combating sarcopenia, increasing strength and improving balance in older adults.
