Disturbing the relationships between parents and children, when the emotional ties of a family are ending, generating new social problems. The purpose of the study was to determine the influence of family communication on social support in the students of the first year of the Educational "Hispano America" high school, from Ambato, Tungurahua Province. One a survey was applied structured by two validated questionnaires that respond to the population in studies, the methods and the levels of investigation proposed. The correlational analysis was carried out, giving as a result that family communication does influence the social support received by a teenager. Especially, the dialogue with the mother, since this depends on the decisions she makes about her personal life and how she accepts herself within society. However, the dialogue with the father is fundamental in the development of a person, because the decisions he makes about his sentimental, social and academic life are influenced by the communication established with the father. Being this one of minor correlation and importance for the surveyed. Therefore, the dialogue with the father should be worked through social intervention, thus proposing a school for parents within the Institution, where the direct beneficiaries will be the students and their families, and the indirect ones the authorities and teachers of the institution.
