Traumatic experiences have been part of diagnosis for Post-traumatic Stress Disorder. It has awakened interest in the field of mental health, because of the consequences that cause health and cognition of individuals. However these studies in the population of Ambato, Tungurahua province, have low values. This study has taken a sample of victims exposed to traumatic situations (n = 45) obtained from experiences as a serious threat or harm to a family member or close friend, unexpected death of a family member or close friend, victims assault, physical abuse, rape, and others. For the evaluation, was applied a neuropsychological battery “Complex Figure Rey”, searching to evaluate memory, and can identify if there is relationship between memory and traumatic experiences of victims (SAPAVT -T). In this application adds a test that follow to evaluate the presence of traumatic experiences and identify the presence of symptoms of Posttraumatic Stress Disorder, through Traumatic Questionnaire (TQ). In this population was researched the characteristics in age between 18 to 60 years old, male or female. The results show the presence of symptoms of PTSD in all population and it varied in between the level of involvement. In the application neuropsychological there are not significant differences (p>0.005) in memory of people with traumatic experiences. Generally the evaluation showed lower, normal or upper levels of memory in people with traumatic experiences with different damage levels: severe, moderate or minor, so is recommended new studies with representative samples to identify the specific cogniti ve effects that could derive from such traumatic experiences.
