In the present research, titled “Gymnastic Practices in the Psychomotor Coordination of Middle Basic Education Students,” the main objective was to analyze the impact of gymnastics, viewed as a didactic strategy, on the psychomotor development of students, considering its fundamental role in holistic growth during the school stage. The study was conducted using a mixed-methods approach, combining both quantitative and qualitative methods. A systematic observation was carried out through the use of checklists, and the KTK test (developed by Kiphard and Schilling, 1974) was implemented to assess levels of motor coordination before and after the execution of the gymnastic practice plan. Additionally, documentary reviews of the institution's academic plans were conducted. The sample consisted of 38 students from Middle Basic Education at Unidad Educativa Ambato. The results showed a notable improvement in the students’ psychomotor coordination after the proposal was implemented, especially in areas such as balance, rhythm, laterality, and eye-motor coordination. It was concluded that structured and continuous gymnastics practice effectively enhances students’ psychomotor development, becoming a highly valuable pedagogical tool. It is recommended that teachers receive training in gymnastic techniques so that they can incorporate them into their curricular planning.
