Item Selección e implementación del sistema de dirección para el prototipo de auto eléctrico BIPLAZA UTA-CIM17(2018) Gallardo Tonato, Wilmer Omar; Pérez Salinas, Cristian FabiánThe purpose of this project is to design, select and implement a steering system for the electric car prototype UTA-CIM17, this project is very important for the Mechanical Engineering Career since it leads to the development of new technologies friendly to the environment and serves as a basis for future research related to this invention. For the fulfillment of the project, the parameters and criteria of design and selection were analyzed in order to form a system that provides safety, smoothness and maneuverability to the driver. Was selected a steering mechanism by means of pinion and rack of the Suzuki Forsa I, since it has low cost, a moderate weight and it was possible to modify its structure, cutting the steering terminals with the purpose of reducing the distance between ends so that it can be assembled in the suspension pivot, since being a prototype, its distance between wheels is very small. This change was very representative since it did not affect the functioning of the system. The steering column has two universal joints arranged along the axle with the aim of providing passive safety to the driver, which in case of collision will reduce the damage considerably. The axes of the steering column were designed using the formulas for the design of circular members subjected to torsion and constructed of Steel AISI 1018, because it has good mechanical properties, has low cost and is available in the national market. The steering wheel and the removable base of the steering wheel were selected analyzing their weight, their cost and their dimensions, thus achieving comfort in the driver and an ideal operation. Finally, different calculations were made such as: turning radius, turning angles of the wheels, necessary effort to turn the tires, convergence, angle of convergence and direction transmission ratio, which were checked with the regulation N ° 79 of the UNECE (United Nations Economic Commission for Europe), with general standards and with measurements of the final system, being able to verify that the project was carried out satisfactorily and complies with the technical standards for homologation.
