    The purpose of the research is to identify the family risk factors that influence the consumption of psychoactive substances by the residents of the Urbina neighborhood of the Ambato canton. Methodology. To carry out this research, a qualitative approach is considered, through the application of interviews and the recording of life stories to better understand the research problem. Conclusions: The causes that promote alcohol consumption especially since adolescence is the influence of friends who incite to experience new sanctions under the effect of liquor, the absence of parents, family problems, love, economic, but especially is the age and the time in which they live is becoming easier for all people to access liquors at low costs, being part of groups of friends who only meet for the purpose of drinking alcohol, feeling accepted, and not against with the trust of the parents causes that many young people, and now adults in some chaos, have lost control of their lives.
