    Rasgos de personalidad y dependencia al teléfono móvil en estudiantes universitarios

    The present study aims to determine the relationship between personality traits and the level of dependence on mobile phone in university students. This is quantitative research, descriptive - correlational in scope with a non-experimental-transversal study design. The population consisted of 275 university students belonging to the careers of the Facu lty of Health Sciences of a Public University in the city of Ambato-Ecuador, with ages between 18 and 26 years. To evaluate personality traits, the International Personality Disorders Examination (IPDE) was applied, while the Mobile Phone Dependency Test (TDM) was used to assess dependence on the mobile phone. Regarding the results, a slight positive correlation (p<0.05) was determined between the personality traits and the level of dependence on the mobile phone; in addition, the sample presents moderate levels (68.7%) of dependence on the mobile phone; on the other hand, most of the participants present personality traits of group B (histrionic, narcissistic, borderline and antisocial).
