For the development of this project, the difference in the dynamic behavior of fixed and isolated structures was identified. the difference in dynamic behavior of structures with: fixed base and with isolation, for this purpose, the objective was to analyze and compare the seismic behavior between them. This research was evaluated on the design of base isolators, observing the behavior of the following parameters: drifts, mass participation, vibration period, accelerations and shear. Through the pre-design, we proceeded with the modeling of the two buildings by using appropriate software for the analysis, performing the linear modal spectral analysis for the fixed base building by using the NEC - 15 design spectrum; for the system with isolation, the nonlinear time-history analysis was performed, considering the maximum probable earthquake, for which appropriate accelerograms were used and adjusted according to the area and type of soil. It is concluded that the implementation of seismic isolators to a fixed base structure, provides a better structural behavior during an earthquake due to the damping provided by these devices, obtaining much smaller relative displacements of floors, therefore, the structure with base isolators can remain operative and with minimum or null damages in comparison to a structure with a structural system of fixed base frames.
