The present research arose with the idea of deepening the study of transgenerational patterns, since we wanted to understand the phenomenon of violence within young couples. In this sense, the main objective was to analyze the influence of transgenerational patterns of violence in the couple relationships of students of the Faculty of Jurisprudence and Social Sciences of the Technical University of Ambato. In order to achieve the proposed objective, a mixed approach methodology (quantitative-qualitative), bibliographic and field, was used, and its scope was exploratory. In order to obtain quantitative data, the Violence Received, Exercised and Perceived (VREP) questionnaire was applied to 290 young people participating in the research. Meanwhile, for qualitative data, 10 in-depth interviews were conducted with another group of 10 young people. As a result, it was concluded that one of the causes of violence within intimate partner relationships is due to the reproduction, conscious or unconscious, of acquired, inherited or transmitted transgenerational patterns of violence. In addition, it was determined that psychological-emotional violence is the pattern of violence that is most often reproduced in the courtship of young people
