The research arises from the need to recognize mobility as a catalyst for multiple spatial interactions and urban processes. Although the relationship between mobility and public space has been addressed in Latin American studies, these phenomena are often examined separately, overlooking the ways in which they are interconnected. The research adopted a qualitative approach supported by both qualitative and quantitative techniques and instruments. Data collected through bibliographic review, spatial quantification, interviews, and observation sheets were analyzed individually and collectively through mapping and triangulation methods. The findings made it possible to identify four main dimensions through which mobility relates to public space: mobility as a generator of social encounters, an activator of urban environments, a producer of spatial fragmentation, and a factor that shapes urban perceptions. Overall, the study concludes that mobility significantly influences public space; however, it is not the sole determining factor, since other conditions contribute to processes such as appropriation, sense of belonging, and perceptions of urban livability. The research confirms the proposed relationship between mobility and public space while also revealing additional aspects for future analysis. Furthermore, it highlights that any street-related intervention, whether linked to mobility or not, should acknowledge existing socio-spatial dynamics in order to avoid negatively affecting the urban environment.
