Code-switching and the English

The present research is expected to cover an investigation with the following topic “Code-switching and the English language” which mainly investigates the relationship between the variables and how students are affected by code-switching during their academic performance. This investigation was lead and coordinated by applying the quali-quantitative approach in a validated survey that allows the examiner to know the relationship between the variables. The subjects of the examination were all the “Unidad Profesionalizante” Fourth to Seventh-semester university students and teachers of the “Carrera de Idiomas” at Universidad Técnica de Ambato. Discerning the results of the present research the conclusion is drawn as the following. English language students are influenced by code-switching when learning or teaching the target language. Consequently, code-switching (English-Spanish) during an English lesson is greatly beneficial for ESL students’ academic performance
Linguistic and Social Factors of Code-switching and the Oral production

The present research project has covered an investigation with the followingtopic “Linguistic and Social Factors of Code-switching and the oral production” which focuses on stating a connection between the variables and so how the linguisticand social factors of code-switching intervene in students’ second language oral production. Qualitative and quantitative methods were both used throughout this investigation through validated surveys to determine how the variables relate to one another and list the positive as well as the negative impact this investigation will have between the variables. Besides, these methods contributed to have the most assertive as well as genuine results from the surveyed students. For the verification of the validity of the proposed survey, three validated teachers from Universidad Técnica de Ambato were considered to authenticate the questions to be applied to the students. Besides, the Cronbach Alfa method was applied to corroborate the hypothesis as well as the proposed questions in a most assertively way. The Cronbach Alfa helped not only to get the results but also to have a real perspective of what is happening with our educational system applied to students who will master the target language in the future. For an authentic survey result, 101 students from the Professional Units Fourth to Seventh semesters of PINE (Pedagogia de los Idiomas Nacionales y Extrangeros) xi at Universidad Tecnica de Ambato were directly contacted with the survey via their institutional mail. It was important to use their institutional mail to get the most real perspective possible. In light of the present research's results, the following conclusion are drawn as the following. There is a relationship between the linguistic and social factors of codes-witching that intervene in students' embedded language oral production when learning EFL specially students who are studying English to master it and teach it in a near future.
