(Universidad Técnica de Ambato/Facultad de Ciencias de la Salud/Carrera de Psicología Clínica, 2023-04-18) Aguas Escobar, Alexander Fabián; Flores Hernández, Verónica Fernanda
Post-traumatic stress occurs as a consequence of a disturbing event that breaks the emotional and psychological balance of the victim. One of the characteristic symptoms is anxiety, therefore its objective is to determine the relationship between post-traumatic stress and anxiety. It is a quantitative, cross-sectional study with a sample of 102 operational firefighters from the city of Ambato, with an age ranging from 20 to 54 years, with an average of 33 years. For data collection, psychological questionnaires were applied; the Global Post-traumatic Stress Scale (EGEP-5) to evaluate post-traumatic stress levels and the Hamilton Anxiety Scale to evaluate anxiety levels. The Jamovi program was used to compare the variables using the Rho Spearman coefficient. The results obtained showed that 82.4% belonged to the low level of posttraumatic stress and 17.6% to the medium low level of posttraumatic stress, while for anxiety 56.9% corresponded to the mild anxiety level, 27.5% to the Absent level, 13.7% to Moderate Anxiety and finally 2.0% to Severe Anxiety. Concluding that there is a slight positive relationship between these two variables (Rho= 0.262, p<0.05
