Abstract: The procurement of car bodies in Ecuador in terms of quality tools management is latent, since the use of them depends a lot if they are competitive in the local and international market. What is sought is to investigate how the tools of total quality are related to the measurement of productive competitiveness in the bodybuilding sector of the province of Tungurahua. Therefore, this research work has been aimed at making an analysis of quality tools used in the bodybuilding sector in order to design standardized techniques to improve production competitiveness and product attributes. The results of greatest impact were: that the total quality tools are related to the productive competitiveness in the bodybuilding sector of the province of Tungurahua with an average of 0.850, only 24% of the companies have ISO certification, of the quantity Tungurahua has a 65% share of the total number of car body companies, the necessary skills are not taken into account to hire personnel, and there are no cost reduction programs in production. Therefore, it was convenient to elaborate the Methodology for the application of quality tools with the purpose of improving the competitiveness of the Tungurahua bodybuilders.
Description: La procuración de las empresas carroceras en el Ecuador en cuanto al manejo de herramientas de calidad es latente, pues del uso de ellas depende mucho si son competitivas en el mercado local e internacional. Lo que se busco es indagar de qué manera las herramientas de calidad total se relacionan con la medición de la competitividad productiva en el sector carrocero de la provincia de Tungurahua. Por lo cual el presente trabajo de investigación se ha encaminado en efectuar un análisis de las herramientas de la calidad utilizadas en el sector carrocero con el fin de diseñar técnicas estandarizadas para mejorar la competitividad productiva y los atributos del producto. Los resultados de mayor impacto fueron: que las herramientas de calidad total se relacionan con la competitividad productiva en el sector carrocero de la provincia de Tungurahua con un promedio de 0,850, solo el 24% de las empresas cuentan con la certificación ISO, de la cantidad total de empresas carroceras Tungurahua ocupa un 65% de participación, para contratar al personal no son tomadas en cuenta las competencias necesarias y no existe programas de reducción de costos en la producción. Por lo tanto fue conveniente elaborar la Metodología para aplicación de herramientas de calidad con la finalidad de mejorar la competitividad de las empresas carroceras de Tungurahua.
